I am a HUGE fan of hunting videos!! I've got about 8 of the Bentley Coben Saskatchewan deer hunting VHS's, Vols. 1-7 of the Truth elk hunting DVDs, 8 Mark Sullivan Nitro ExpressAfrican hunting DVDs, again about 8 of Jim Shockey's DVDs.
Recently I bought a few new movies; Hunting the African Elephant, Death by Double Rifles , Boddington on Buffalo, Quest for Tanzanian Big Game by Jack Brittingham and Hunting Coastal Giants.
Hunting the African Elephant is a very good movie. Tons of shooting footage and excellent, excellent instruction! Makes me want to go and "bang one" myself!! It's done by Buzz Charlton. It's a 5-Star movie. *
Death by Double Rifles is by Mark Buchanan. Every animal in the movie is shot with a double ranging from .375H&H to .500NE. I also rate this a 5-Star movie. If you want to see a lot of good double rifle shooting this movie has it; Mark Buchanan is a damn good shot offhand!
Boddington on Buffalo is very good. Much different from the Mark Sullivan "Death at my Feet" kinda hunting. It's a much more realistic portrayal of Cape Buffalo hunting I would say. There are no provoked charges and it's got very good info for anyone considering an African Safari. 4-Stars.
Quest for Tanzanian Big Game is entertaining. I think Jack Brittingham has some better movies though. It's a 3.5 out of 5.
Hunting Coastal Giants is an Alaskan movie showing black bear and brown bear hunts. It's okay. Not as good as Jim Shockey's Cave Bears of the Pacific Rim. I'd call Hunting Coastal Giants about a 3 out of 5...
FYI, Every one of the Truth videos is excellent. 5-Stars every one!
Most of the Mark Sullivan movies are good too. Probably the best are Death at my Feet, Shot to Death and Africa's Black Death.
Jim Shockey's movies are also pretty good. Every one of his movies has a handful of really good hunts with "filler" material. Definitely his best is Cave Bears of the Pacific Rim, but you'll find some good hunts in every one of his movies.
