Hunting with 18.5" shotgun

Had my 18.5 threaded for chokes...now I don't even bother with the 28"...except for trap and waterfowl. The shorter barrel is way better for tramping through the woods and hasn't had any noticeable impact otherwise.

What in the hell happened to that deer's neck?

The cut below the head is from the way I field dress deer first is a big cut to bleed out the deer and cut clean throw the juggler
If you look close you can see a tuff of hair missing lower down the neek that's where I shot him

I bought a smoothbore 18.5" Mossberg 590A1 with ghost ring sights. After getting it threaded for rem chokes, it's perfect for turkeys and deer. If I come across a grouse during a bush drive this fall, I can easily switch out slug ammo for bird shot.

I'm taking my 18.5 rem 870 tactical out with me bear hunting
This fall, I'm am only bringing it as a back up tho, as I intend to
Use my bow.

I also use it as my coyote shotgun with 4 buck as it's mostly
Dense brush where I hunt.

good points all :) Mostly as I see waterfowl as pattern will not be great for getting bird. However, mostly for other game should be good.
