Hunting with 7.62x39?

My point was at the low velocities of the 7.62X39 that a Barnes TSX is basically a waste of money because I cannot see it giving better performance than a lead core bullet that costs far less...

Wasn't talking about anyones budget...

You bring up expensive bullets then say you weren't talking about budget?


The point of using the TSX bullet would be to maximize performance, as TSX often do. It is possible that bullet selection would be meaningless due to the moderate velocity of the 7.62x39, but it's also possible that it would offer some benefit. Won't really know until someone tries them out, but like I said in my first post- If I was going to hunt moose with the cartridge, I'd use the TSX, because it is probably the best bullet available for that cartridge.

..................and I bet they probably had a house full of other hunting rifles and chose their SKS's.
