Hunting with 7.62x54R

What have you guys found to be effective hunting ammo for 54R ?

I know theres that MFS 203gr SP.... but Ive found MFS to be fairly inaccurate :/

Hows the S&B 180gr soft points ?

Anybody here ever shoot a bear with 54R ?

I want to take a Black Bear this fall using my Russian flame "Natasha"

I will most likely bring a .300WM for back up...

'Natasha' - melikes :)

I shot a average-small white tail with prvi soft points at about 75 yards. One shot in a decent spot front chest cavity and he walked about 100 yards and by the time I got there it was over. Not dead instantly but I was ok with the performance. Might be better stuff out there but it was adequate.

Gave the 203gr MFS a whirl today and omg
Mosin nagant at 80ish yards on a target in the woods I hit paper reasonably
SVT-40 I hit the paper once btw trying to sight in my scope and with irons. Found later shots were grouping in a tree about a foot to the left.

Barnell 7.62 x 39 sight hot fantastic from my sks SP and /FMJ
Sellier&Bellot 8x57JS SP shot laser beams out of my mauser at anything I aimed

Not sure if it was me the ammo or the rifles but had me stopping for a boresight on the way home. I am hoping I'm to blame.

Lol really did a number on a tree behind the target which my buddy and I rigged to be pulled down with the next shot or two.... saving it for a friend to shoot the tree and have it fall. I hit this tree possibly 8 to 10 time and good lord the entrance is a pinhole compared to an orange exit so much that the tree will probably fall due to wind. Approx 5 inch diameter wow for power

They work alright, rapid fire can cause problems when I wear safety glasses... The scope gets pushed back into my safety glasses enough that the rubber bends breaking my sight picture for the next follow up shot.

The rubber cups that come with the POSP's suck, the rubber is stiff, and sharp. The rubber that comes with the PO's like pictured are nice
