Anyone hunt with a 10/22 carbine? If so how far out can you reach? I am deadly to pop cans:) out to about 50 yards but for some reason I can't hit game with my Ruger, I gotta use my Cooey.....seems almost backwards to me?

Hunted with one forever. I'm not sure how far I could reach ideally. but definitely far enough for rabbit and grouse hunting. I've taken several rabbits out to 50 yards in really dry conditions where getting any closer meant crunching leaves and twigs and losing the game.

Shot grouse with mine. Worked ok but never tried it past 50 yards on anything living.

You know your gun and your shooting better than me.

I have my 10/22 sighted in for 100 yds and maintain about 1.5 MOA accuracy (factory rifle not pimped out) I have no problems hitting gophers at that range or even out further to about 150 yds if I read the wind right.

If you are deadly accurate at 50yds then push it out to 75yds and shoot at that range until you are deadly accurate - keep increasing the range until you are confident that you can engage targets effectively at that range

After getting good at 75 -100yds, 50yds seems like an absolute cakewalk.

I shoot gophers with mine. Stainless, wood stock, absolutely factory stock, no add-ons other than a Bushnell Trophy scope and 30 shot mags. I find it is best to fire some warning shots. Helps keep things fair for the gophers, also warms up the barrel....:p
