Hunting with a .223, legal or no?

I was surprised when Drache said he had gone over the regulations, but still asked if the 223 was legal. He even pinted out the part where any centre fire was legal.

Because Id rather be 100% sure than miss something and do something illegal. I knew what it said in the regulations and yet people were still saying that it wasn't allowed so I did what people should do, I asked. What is so surprising about that?

I'll trade you. I like your draw set-up/system better than what we have. But in addition, for a trade, come here using a 223 for Bears and I'll hunt AB, with bait.

i am trying my .223 this fall for deer , 53 gr tsx and a full load of w-748, planning on waiting for the right shot, i will post the results ,,wade

legal caliber for deer

When I was hunting deer in Quebec which was sometime ago the starting caliber was 6mm/.243 for big game,deer,bear, moose etc. As I now hunt deer in Ontario I have yet to hear about or see a similar regulation in this province.
Best to check the regs for the area you wish to hunt in to be on the safe side.

well placed shots will work fine for whitetail, I have shot several with a .223, but standing shots at around 30-40 yards in the pumpkin seem to work the best.
