I have a .357 magnum rifle. I am in Ontario.

I am looking to buy some 357 magnum ammo that I can use for target shooting and, someday, hunting.

Both of the following say that they are suitable for target shooting, but don't mention hunting. Has anyone here used the following, and what did you think of them?

Blazer Brass Pistol Ammunition - 357 Magnum - 158 grain JHP
Herter's Target Handgun Ammo - 357 Magnum - 158 Grain JSP

I wouldn’t use either. Get some premium ammo if your going to use it for hunting.

A lot of ammo doesn’t make anywhere near the advertised velocity. I’d at least chrono a few rounds to make sure.

Blazer 158’s would be my choice of the two, a 18.5” barrel will get you in the 1750-1800fps range.
For hunting small/med game I would recommend the Federal hammer down 170gr load, or a hand load with 158gr XTP FP.

Recommendations are based off my personal experience.
