Hunting with a Citori 725 Sporting

Agreed, an upland gun is supposed to be short(24"-28" BBL) and quick. A target gun with shorter 28" barrels, on the lighter side of 8lbs would work. A target gun is desinged to be carried little and shot a lot, field guns are designed light to be carried a lot and shot little, hence the preference for 6lb short SXS's for hunting grouse & woodcock. My upland gun is a Baikal IJ-58M, 28" barrels, weighs 7lbs, I can shoot trap with it, and do, but it's light enough to carry all day and still get on target when a Grouse or Hare decides it time to move.

We all have different tastes and opinions. Less than 26" is out of the question, a 24" guns feels like baseball bat.

I handled a Field 26" 725 12g this week at Sail. Loved the thing. I just bought a Citori White Lightning (12gx28") a month ago and if I had handled the 725 would have bought that instead. The lower sighting plane and rib is definitely different but felt comfortable and natural.
