Well damn, I bought a Garand this spring and spent part of the summer making a red dot scope mount for it and testing ammo for reliable functioning and accuracy only to find out yesterday when reading the hunting regs that it is illegal to use for big game hunting in Ab..
I can use my other 30-06's on anything in the province but not this 30-06, i can carry it anywhere I want in the province for plinking or predator hunting but not for big Game because of the 8 rnd mag ability. Its legal to bang away with an old Lee Enfield for as long as you want, as many rounds as you can fit in, but not with a Garand.

Nothing more than a "chicken little-the sky is falling" type of reg installed by a "Karen" type bureaucrat.

5 round enclip makes you legal. - dan

I have a couple of the five rounders. They satisfy the law as they can’t be installed from the top. You have to take the bottom of the gun out, put it in empty, then single load 5 rounds from the top. There is no ping when it is empty.

They are a bit of a pain to use. But make you legal.

My 5 rnds work the same as the 8 rnds clips.

Just buy 5 round clips and carry on. I have hunted with my Garand many times in the past and collected a number of deer with it.

There used to be an exception for the Garand, haven't looked it up in years.
That is an exemption to federal magazine capacity limits, not hunting regs.

There is something wrong with those clips. All of my 5 rounders work the same as the 8's.

I cant find any 5 rd in Canada and none of the retailers I can find south will ship to Canada .
Try Creedmoor Sports. That's where I got my 5 round clips and other accessories.

There’s nothing wrong with them, they are designed to operate like that. The bottom of them is bent over in such a way that the follower will not come in from the bottom. It makes it so nothing that you do will have it take more than 5 rounds for hunting purposes.

You can make a 5 round enbloc from an 8 rounder very easily, a bit of time with a dremel and cut off wheel and a plumbers torch and 5 empty cases makes it a easy deal.

People over think a lot of stuff it seems………

Oh ghee whiz there’s a utube vid on this!

Yet more examples of regulations made by braindead morons who comprehend nothing about guns and want to do everything possible to mess with law abiding hunters and sport shooters.
