Hunting with a Garand in AB.

No. The hunting regs prohibit hunting big game with any semi-auto that has a magazine capacity greater than 5. The Garand is really the only rifle this affects because everything else has a capacity limit of 5 in the firearms act (pistol mags not included, of course).

Yes, that would be a suitable "reach around" for an opinion of an office pouge that will be of no help in a courthouse visit...the crown & the judge in that room will both have a copy of the "written" regs on their desk , not the opinion of the guy sitting in an office that now wont want to have anything to do with the courthouse or to prove his opinion as being relevant.
 
Actually they served quite well for their intended hunting operations of the 1940's & 50's LOL...but you are right , they need to be "improved upon" a bit for an old feller to carry & justify using when other more suitable rifles are available.
Mine has the original peep sight removed and a small custom scope base made to adapt a small Red Dot to it as well as the enbloc conversion to a 5 rounder and a plug manufactured so it wont accept an 8 rounder ( if its legal for a shotgun in AB it should also work for an auto loading Garand )
Currently I am building a new butt plate that will accommodate a jury rigged cheek riser because the red dot is much higher in profile.
A bit of work to accomplish but using history makes it all worth it.
