Hunting with a minor (my cousin)

I'm 31. My cousin is 17. We are planning to go small game hunting (in QC) this coming weekend.

Since he is a minor, I know that he cannot hunt on his own, or carry a firearm on his own. If we go hunting together, does he have to use one of MY firearms, or can he borrow his father's 12ga and bring it along?

Yes he can use his dads gun but his dad needs to lend it to YOU with the certificate. Your cousin can't just leave the house with daddies shotgun and meet you there. He also needs to be stay at "arms length" from you the whole time since he does not have a PAL. Those are the rules... Now its up to his and dad you to decide if you will or will not follow them!
