Hunting with a pistol. Will we ever see it

Hunt with a pistol? What's the point when rifles and shotguns are available and more useful/available nc curate. Save pistol hunting for after the apocalypse
I have a handgun with a 14" barrel and scope that is just as accurate as any mid sized game rifle. Much lighter and easier to lug around so there can be a niche for hand gunning.

Some ppl carry the crossman .22 co2 pistol for grouse... I hear it works fairly well... but of course it would be better to have a 4.2" revolver with .22 quiets. Silly laws indeed.

I just bought some cigars (backwoods) I smoke them in the summer on the porch, maybe 3-4 a week max, I quit every winter, anyway the govt forced them to change all the names of them and all the cigars. I was laughing with the store clerk about how it was someones job to force them to do that... like they think it is keeping anyone safer or making anyone quit smoking cigars... so silly and so dumb... the govt loves telling the public what to do and how to do it under the guise of "keeping us all safe". At the same time weed is about to be legal... sigh... but my cigars can't be called "honey" or "Berry" and have to be hidden from the customer. The clerk said he legally cant even tell me what he has for sale, I can ask him and he can say if he has it for sale or not. Its almost comical. Nanny state...

My hope actually is that Justin will go overboard on the Nanny state and the blowback in 4-8 years will be huge and we will get a "libertarian" styled conservative government. My dream...

HA!

Trump... BritEx... the writing is on the wall... there is a more "libertarian" style of conservatism sweeping the western world... Justin is late to the party.

The same can be said for bow hunting then, or black powder or any non-magnum calibers too. What kind of guns do you own? I bet someone can make a case to ban them for hunting too.

I'd love to see it happen. Muzzle loaders, cross bows, recurves and compounds all have "seasons" regardless of (their) energy & knock-down/knock-out limitations.. In my own opinion, there is no reason what-so-ever that handguns shouldn't be allowed for hunting too.

Here's some food for thought; serious back-country hunters wishing for the ability to "carry" for defense on bears & such would not only be granted that, but also able to carry bird-shot ammo for those sidearms and be able to mix in a meal or two of grouse instead of freeze-dried meals for days and weeks on end! Pretty senseless to try kill a bird with 270's and 7mm's. But if handgun-hunting were allowed, you'd have a double-use tool outta those revolvers on your hip. Really no good reason at all that handguns are barred from real "use" out there.

Absolutely. I'm in that same boat right with you.. at the VERY least in places and under circumstances like farms & ranches, there should be an addition made to the current ATC permit-allowance "professions" to include Farm & Ranch, just like trappers, prospectors and guides.

No doubt about it, side-arms would be handy for damn near daily use on pastures and around livestock.. for both predation reasons where long guns aren't able to be along with-you AND for such things as your own protection when miles and miles or even hours away from assistance (or your gun-cabinet)

Make sense +1 !

I'd settle for Justin just going overboard......
