Hunting with a Tavor with 10 round magazine?

Unless you are talking about the "Micro Tavor" ...the standard Tavor 21 sold in Canada is non-restricted and therefore is legal to hunt with ...just not sure about 10 rounds..

The non-restricted tavor is fine for mag limits go to the Sask environment website they have a contact us page, I have sent in many questions to clairify hunting regs and they usually respond in a day or two.

Why would it have any different rules then a mini 14? Its a non restricted semi auto .22 cal centerfire. I know down south its illegal to shoot foxes the Northern fur block has different regs. You can blast coyotes anywhere in the province.

Cheers!!

Coyotes are only allowed year round in zones 1 to 55 outside of the fur conservation blocks. Zones 56 to 74 require fur license and I believe trappers lease.

Sask hunting regulations do not regulate the magazine capacity of hunting rifles. If the rifle and magazine are compliant with federal firearms regulations and the calibre is compliant with provincial hunting regulations for the species being hunted (i.e .24 calibre minimum for big game) you can use your Tavor.

it it not a national law that any centre fire auto loading gun must be limited to 5 rounds in the magazine? had a frind asking if he could get 30 rounders for his mini 14 for gophers and friggin around. As far as I know prohib if it isnt pined

I would agree with that.

It is but the LAR mags are designed for an AR pistol, they just so happen to fit into a regular AR (and tavor) this makes them A OK to use. I know it makes no sense but that is our gun laws. As far as the OP's question, im not in sask but in ontario the hunting regs (except for shotguns) do not govern mag limit only the Firearms act does, here you are good to go with the 10 rounders and i would imagine sask is the same. your mileage may vary though and its best to contact the mnr and ask.

I questioned the wildlife branch/CO's here in BC earlier this year one of the CO's is even a friend of mine they couldn't find any info stating that I couldn't hunt with the 10 round mags so I am going to...

Don't know about your province so I suggest you give your local CO a call...

:D
