Lots of ignorance among LE

One of the big problems is that 99.9% of police officers (at least in the GTA) have MINIMAL firearms knowledge. It's just not tought. Is it legal to go out and shoot earth pigs with your TAVOR? Absolutely, but explain that to the SWAT team that takes you down. Might have a great law suit on your hands! The courts preach that "ignorance of the law is no excuse or defence". It should be the same for LE.

I've walloped gophers with my SAN. Great fun. I share the reservations about the LAR15 mags, and would feel better if one of us had already triumphed in court on the subject. I've spent enough time in court to know that outcomes you think are certain can be anything but.
 
I use my Swiss Arms Blue Star for coyote hunting here on the Rock. Generally stick with the factory five round mags as they make it easier for bush carry and they fit better in my pockets than the 5/20 or 5/30 mags. You can also leave an empty 5/5 mag in the rifle when putting the rifle in the Kolpin Gun Boot on the ATV.

Mag restrictions in this case are limited by provincial hunting regs to 5 rounds in a semi-auto; although federally, the Swiss Arms mags are also restricted to 5. I don't currently own a Tavor or XCR but wouldn't have a problem hunting with them. I can remember when we could go seal hunting with AR-15s though! Those were the days!

In Labrador, we can still legally hunt caribou with a centerfire .22, so the Swiss Arms, Tavor or XCR would be perfectly legal up there. Then again, I know guys who have killed Polar Bears and Walrus with nothing more than a bolt action .22-250!
