Hunting with an RA XCR?

Well I can now add 2 coyotes to my XCR total I have the 223 upper on right now with 10 round LAR mags loaded with 40gr V-Max @ 3250fps.

First was running across a snow covered field it was a dream set up figured I'd get to use the semi auto/capacity of the XCR/Mags but no once again first shot dropped it instantly distance was approximately 135 yards while it was in a full out run zigzagging away from me second was broadside @ 40 yards so once again I could have gotten away with a single shot...

Oh well some day I have more than one come in...

I haven't taken any pics yet but I'll get too it soon I'm on my new notebook right now so even if I had pics I haven't figured out how to down load them yet.

going out again in the morning may score one or two more...
 
geeezzzz this makes me wanna take mine out!!!! Stupid work taking me away from spending time out in the woods with my baby (the XCR)!! well done though Camp, Cheers!
 
Yes it is 1-9" at first I figured the 40's wouldn't work either and even tried them when I first started loading for the XCR without any luck on group size then appr 500of other bullets/rounds latter being careful to clean the barrel at regular intervals and never allowing the barrel to heat up to much I decided to give them a try again.

If I remember correctly my load is 40gr V-Max + 25.5grs H322 + COL = 2.26" only difference is I now also crimped the loads with a lee factory crimp die.

I am now getting 1 1/2" 100 yard groups and just over 3" 300 yard groups...

Anyway have to leave it at that wife just jumped into the truck so have to go...
 
Add another coyote to the list shot it @ appr 8:30am this morning distance was only 50 yards but it was running away from me hit it between the shoulder blades when it hit the ground it twitched so I hit it again for good luck...

Holy cow XCR-L's are fast handling/shooting rifles...

I've taken pics now just need to get back home and load them onto my computer so I can post them...

You know I have never had an issue with my XCR-L but then Terra built mine specifically for me so it was built right...

I've heard that there might have been a few firing pins that were a little out of spec, so to speak. Anyway I went to the range today and over all it's shooting good, I'm still working out some 6.8 loads, but .223 is fine, I think I can tighten em up a bit more yet though. I'm averaging 1 moa, some a little tighter, some a little bigger. In all fairness though, I was having some cartridge length / mag feeding issues today as well.

How much your weapon weight ?
I tried a Tactikewl XCR once and it weighted more than a F class rifle with a 30" Bull barrel. The Guy had alot of s**t on it, but that is a personal choice

Yeah, I live in a Inuit community in the tundra, and many of them use .223 to hunt everything (including caribou).

The way I see it, the more people using non-restricted black rifles for hunting, the better. It will hopefully show to the anti's and some hunters I know, that black rifles can be useful tools for hunting.

Yup... The looks when you pass someone in the great outdoors with your black rifle are priceless. But a lot of people are interested and ask questions. Getting the major hunting stores to carry non-restricted black rifles would be a big step. That would help change the attitudes of a lot of hunters (I would think).

Latulipe sports in Quebec city displays a Black special at the end of their Remington and others rack. Nice decision!
It's not a tactical store, just outdoor, fishing and hunting.

But in our province it's our town with the most army guys.
I agree it would be nice to see that in every hunting counter.
