hunting with an SKS?

I've used my '52 mix-master Tula on both Coyotes and boars, both at fairly short distances because it is frigging amazing how far those animals can run if you don't get a clean hit. Deer, I dunno. Varmint hunting is one thing, but having to chase a gut shot White-tail across most of a section when you could have maybe borrowed a better rifle...
