Hunting with Black Rifles

Where can some find the frt#'s? What is a xcr-l's? And please excuse my ignorance what does frt stand for? I know it's the rcmp's classification, but just want to be as educated as possible if I have a leo encounter while hunting with my xcr. Thanks guys.

Any of you see this video I filmed of my buddy's XCR being confiscated for using LAR mags a few years ago?

https://youtu.be/RT9yGCdr7o8

I had my T97 there using the same mags... but when asked by CO Gravel if I was using 10 rounders... oddly my answer was "no" after seeing what happened when you said "yes". Jared eventually got his XCR back with an apology of sorts... but it was still a sh*t show

Yeah great video... Hopefully that guy is an isolated case.

"I've been down that road many times" that would be the "harassing citizen route" I guess...
"Becomes prohib once you insert the magazine..."

I can only imagine the "apologies" he got: here's your rifle, sign here and here. Bye

Maybe next time dont suggest to that kind of guy to go raid the ranges because everyone is using "it"... Its basically throwing people under the bus.

for the xcr?
really?

thats the same as a m1a

im from quebec so my only hunting firearm is my 30-30, not really good for bc though, i might need to invest in a bigger firearm soon, but I do love the furries and cant bring myself to take one down.

Now wild boar, yah, but that's dangerous hunting...

What are good places for wild boar hunting in Quebec?

I've never hunted big game with black guns, but I have taken a bunch of coyotes and varmints with AR180B's, Swiss Arms, CZ858's and (back in the day) AR15's. Always sorta/kinda expected problems when running into LEOs but never had any negative interactions, nothing beyond a couple of questions.

Frankly, I don't do it anymore...not because of problems like those mentioned in this thread either. I just find these guns heavy, awkward, uncomfortable and too much of a PITA to carry for hunting. I guess I'm simply more accustomed to and more comfortable with a traditional rifle for all-day hunting carry.

That said, I do intend to take a deer with my Norc305 at some point. I suspect one will be enough to scratch that itch.

My B-I-L uses a scoped M305 when we're out for deer. It's heavy as fack...

Still can't believe I humped a C1 and C2 as much as I did back in the day... Certainly makes me appreciate my Mountain Mauser more!!

I hear what the OP is saying re: hunting with a Black Gun for LCF, but weight and utility carries the day for me while hunting...

I'll exercise my privilege and save my NR Black Guns for plinking up Chilliwack Lake Road!!!

Last year and the year before I used my VZ58 in 7.62x39 for deer hunting in BC. The area I was hunting in is Very dense bush. I spent most of my time still hunting through it and the VZ58 seemed about perfect for the job. 7.62x39 is about the same as 30-30 for dense bush hunting and I would place the rifle similar to a lever action carbine in utility and handling(VZ 58s are not very heavy for a black rifle). I would put it at an advantage over a lever gun though due to being faster and easier to keep a sight picture for follow up shots if need be. It has also surpassed my .22s for plinking with the cheap surplus ammo so I feel very proficient with it. When hunting with it I got a mix of reactions from other hunters. Mostly either looks of approval or disapproval but nobody really ignored it. A CO drove passed me while I was walking along the road but did not stop and I did not catch a good look at their face.
