Hunting with dogs and trespassing

63A has gotten progressively worse in the last 5 years. Doesn't seem to be a lot of locals hunters anymore, just idiots that rent the land and have NO clue where anything is, and don't seem to give a sh*t anyways. Your specific example is pretty sickening. You were a lot more calm than I would have been! :)

Pfft - You're a lot more patient that I would have been. Trespassing = call to the cops. No tag = call to the fish cops. you'll see them again next year, probably. ("oops, thought that dog was a 'yote")

No tag, trespassing, and shooting at an improper backs stop?
Warrants a call and some charges laid.
Just because they said they didn't see you could be a crock.
That alone would of set my mind on calling for charges.
You truly are a patient and humble earthling.

Though your grace shown in this case is near 'saintly' you made the wrong call 'helping' these guys out. They have not learned anything in this situation except that they can get away with poaching, tresspassing and unsafe discharge of firearms. Expect them back.

These hunters have a well established camp and have been there for years, I do see their dogs on a regular basis, This is by far the worst year I have had with them, I have considered taking their dogs to the local pound. I'm not sure I could bring myself to shooting them. I am concerned that If I complain against them I am opening the doors for them to retaliate. I have heard many stories like this where, hunt camps are found burnt to the ground.

Yeah, I'm afraid they were treated far too nicely.

How about a simple, "gents, if this happens again, you will be brought under charges".
Trespassing is exactly this.
No care nor concern for your well being and to be shot at just makes the face more red.

Exactly my thoughts. What is the point of being nice to poachers? Poachers because they actually shot the deer on your property.

I am not far from you and I had same situation (not as bad as yours) two years ago with hunters on the adjacent property and their dogs, zig zaging in and out of my property. They were stopped within the first 30 minutes and were given their marching orders in no uncertain terms. the ensuing mumbling and foot dragging was also dealt with on the spot (Leave now means NOW)!

The owner of the property was visited the same night (the hunters were his sons and their bodies) and was asked to make sure it didn't happen again. Two years later and no problem at all. Good fences Do make good neighbors!

It turns out these guys don't actually own any property where they are hunting, they have permission to hunt on some property that is near mine, I now know the actual owner of the property. I will have a chat with him and see how it turns out.

Just a thought.

I have many No Trespassing/Keep Out/Private Property signs up. They only stop honest people. Our camp still gets broken into regularly, our property is trespassed on all the time. We have trail cams up and have caught and prosecuted two thieves so far, but I am sure we are not done. I think if you ask cottagers and recreational property owners, this sort of thing is sadly the norm.

Could have worked out worse for them. Evidence could show that you were hunting your stand over the meadow, on your property, and 2 guys with no tags trespassed. Their dogs interfered with your legal hunt and you shot them. Not nice to shoot someone's dog, but the law would have been on your side. I imagine if you had shot a dog, though, it would have went a lot worse for YOU too :S

I live on my 100 acres and had to deal with the same issues this year, caught one person cutting across my property, yelled over to him and then made my way over with a few more shouts, he walked off onto the adjacent property ignoring me before I could have a chat with him. Same day the neighboring property on the other side was chased off with dogs a doe wounded basically on the property line and I ran into them tracking it through the back of my property....allowed them to continue but made it clear they did not have permission to be on or hunting my property. These same people always seem to cruise up and turn around across from my place likely checking for my truck as it makes no sense for them to do that.
Its the same story all over here, the amount of shooting that goes on is astounding mostly because IMO people are shooting at deer (and wounding them) running in front of dogs who could barely hit the animal if it was standing still. Another hunter showed up in my lane way to let me know they "just put dogs through and wounded a buck, keep an eye out for it".....f'in wonderful (he drew me a map in the dirt, it didn't head anywhere near my place but I wondered why he said there was good blood but they couldn't find it, hmmm).
I realize everybody misses or doesn't make a perfect shot sometimes, but the overwhelming majority of people in the woods during rifle season only fire there rifle at deer season (sited in a couple years ago...)
that is my rant, i will be posting my property this winter even tho there is a clear fence line...Happy Hunting :)

Its too bad these ###hole hunters wreck it for the rest of us. Why is it so fakin hard for people to understand not to go on property they are not allowed to hunt. Its simple really. The excuse they don't know where they are is just that an excuse. If you don't know where you are lost and you should not be shooting on that property.
I have ran into trespassers while coyote hunting on land I have exclusive rights to and they also pull the stupid card..it pisses me off and I hate it.

Arogant ignorant pieces of garbage that could cause an accident.

Its no wonder land owners don't want people on their land.
