wow. We have had some good hounds shot on us here as well. The quilty parties don't hunt anymore. At least not anywhere I know of.
EXACTLY!!
What is accepted ad common practice in one area may be frowned upon in another, but most of this is bsed on emotion, NOTHING MORE!!
I was involved in an incident where a fella's champion walker was shot by somebody as it crossed his land, in tongue!
that shooting cost the shooter a PILE of money !
Hunting big game with hounds is done in many areas of the country, and is not something that is as caotic as those who do not like it think.

WOW, really... clearly I stepped on some toes by merely expressing my opinion on hunting big game with dogs. Do I use a spear, knife or other weapons like that to hunt?? No! Do I hunt deer and elk that are feeding on my farmland ... yes I do. I have hunted ducks and geese with a black lab and it is very helpful plus the dog loves it. Watching a trained upland bird dog working would be very interesting.

Why don't you guys with your trained hounds come out here and put them on the scent of the wild boars and help get rid of these problem animals. The only problem with that is you might lose a few of them once they caught up to the boars. Yes there are a few guys who use dogs for coyotes here, dog v.s. dog and it seems to work well for them.

Like some of you stated we all have our own way of hunting animals; so I guess enjoy the way your use to hunting.
As I stated in my earlier post PURE EMOTION is what dictates many people's idea of right and wrong.
it's okay to hunt rabbits, coyotes and boar with not deer?
there is no argument that says tha one is okay and the other is not!

I use terriers... patterdales and russells.

All furry critters are on the menu. squirrel, ground hog, skunk, fox, rabbit ETC...

Above and below ground... brush piles whatever.

I got my patts from the USA.

I only wish I could hunt cats (lynx) here in ontario!

The German wirehaired pointer can do it all...But is now primarily used for ruffed grouse and rabbits. He still gets out for early season waterfowl as well

The black lab gets the majority of the water work...especially once the temperature starts to drop.
