hunting with drillings

Yes, provided that the cartridges for that particular drilling (or on your person that fit it) are legal for the game being pursued, at least in Ontario. You might get an argument, if found duck hunting with one, and no big game season open. But if you had no cartridges, it would be hard to press.

I moose hunt with a firearms safety instructor that uses a drilling, 12X12X30-30 on occasion. He uses it more for deer though, it's a backup gun for moose.
The grouse potential is a big plus.

Had no idea what you guys were talking about. I've seen combo guns, but not a 3-barrel setup. Those are pretty cool! But damn they're pricey.

I think the big issue would be hunting deer in a shotgun only area or hunting migratory birds. As long as the prohibited ammunition was not available or present it should not be a problem

Every province in Canada makes its own game laws. Why do people persist in asking such broad questions? If you are in Ontario please look up Ontario rules.

My German friend pronounces it "Drill-ing" not "Dry-ling" but he was speaking English for my benefit at the time.
I currently have three Drillings and like the versatility!

Do you use the open sights for the moose and caribou as well as the feather fowl?

many drillings are fitted with either removable scope mounts or have ingenious methods of retracting unneeded rifle sights to allow wing shooting.

Things get even more versatile when you get a 22 hornet/22 rimfire liner for one of the shotgun bores or a liner to shoot .410. Other nice features are cartridge trap butt plates, bead/sight storage so you can choose between ivory, gold etc depending on prefrence/lighting.

Honestly I do not know how I have survived this long with out one. Carrying one in 9.3 mm for moose/bear/deer/elk, 22 short for incidental grouse, and 16 gauge for incidental waterfowl would make fall walks much more productive/interesting.

If you start watching the US auctions you'll get an idea of what is available. Sure you can drop 10k on one but you can also find very nice ones for 2k and under.

I have a Boch drilling .
A 270 Win. on top of a 12 gauge and off to the right side , between the two of them, a .22 long rifle barrel.
Very versatile but kinda pricey to take hunting .
Pretty light for having three 24" barrels .
Plus it has a quick detachable scope.
I haven't fired it for a few years but the 270 would print about 2" high at 100 yards and the 22 right on @ 100 if my memory serves me right

Very versatile but kinda pricey to take hunting .

what you mean is kinda pricey NOT to take hunting! 7k for a gun in the safe is a waste, 7k for a gun enjoyed is not a problem. Even if you depreciate it by 2k over a few seasons so what? Most of us have lost that percent on every other investment over the past years.
