hunting with lever actions

Here you are, the four on the right, the 5th on the left was shot by another member of the gang the same morning. It went like this. 3 came running through my ridge after I had just listened and felt 2 bucks rutting I literally felt the ground vibrate under my feet.
It was the 2 small bucks and the dow. The bigger of the 2 was leading I took him first after one of my rounds entere his back he dropped. The dow and the other buck busted west the same direction they came from but kept to the south of the ridge gut. Gave me time to reload. I took the dow she dropped. I thought 2 out of 3 aint bad but the other buck came back for the dow, I had time to reload again it took 3 rounds to put down the smallest buck. He kept bobbing his head after taking a round in the chest and a busted leg. I placed the cross hairs on his head, I grazed the bottom of his antler but the impact was enough to finish him. Everything went quit.

Then the crasher shows him self. He's walking the same path the others came out of. I leaned back so he couldn't see me and and loade 2 rounds just before he walked directly in front of me at 50 yds he walked into my crosshairs and I fired he bolted south I took another shot he kept going. I found blood 100 yds south vound him 150 yds it was a liver shot no blood until he bleed out. This was 9am the Friday of the firs week, the work wasn't over until 9pm. We had tagged out that year.

Nice pics there rooster. I can always tell by the pics where a deer was shot. You guys out east hang them by the neck or head, out west, we hang them upside down. :HR: But them see thru rings are just an abomination. Look, either you hunt open sight or scoped, pick one. :) Love the gun, but the rings suck.

You are entitled to your opinion, but if you haven't hunted the Canadian Shield, then you don't know what your talking about. It's heavy thick brush as well as 200 yds + watches. This 99 is my first deer rifle and the only one I owned for many years, the see thru rings have served thier purpose. The only abomination here is your attitude. Which I guess should be expected from a guy who will hang a deer upside down.:stirthepot2:

levers only from now on!

I have had bolt actions anywhere from .243 to 300WSM. I picked up a nice

scoped marlin 336 from a fellow nut. I decided to use it last Saturday for

hunting. Well, needless to say the rifle filled my buck tag and doe tag in under

15 minutes with both animals dropping in their tracks with 1 shot. I'm sold on

30/30. My only regret is, WHY THE HELL DIDN'T I TRY IT 10 YEARS AGO?!?!
