But you couldn't use it to hunt in Southern Ontario.

The diameter of the bullet is too large.

I would not want to hunt moose with a 410. That actually doesn't sound right, hmm

No problemo if the law allows the use of a rifle in your MU. A 308 with the proper hunting round is lethal out to 800 meters if U do your part.

When I was a kid, the guy that lived across the street from us shot a sizeable bull with a 410 slug. They used to do it with 44-40's, which is probably more anemic than the 410, but I definitely don't think it's an adequate caliber. That being said, they could probably come up with a gorgeous rifled slug gun in 410 that would shoot a powerful slug. It's just that, as others have mentioned in other threads, most States don't allow anything smaller than 20 gauge. Otherwise, even the 28 would make a nice little gun.

BTW, back in the good old days, my go-to moose gun was a HK G3.
 
You can absolutely use it where I am in S Ontario for coyote (small game) and just slightly north of me for deer, where I am is shotgun only for deer.

I thought the caliber limit was .275" in Southern Ontario?

Is it only in certain areas?
 
If it is legal to hunt with a rifle in your MU and Provence it is legal to hunt with a M305. Use the correct hunting round and not a 7.62X51 NATO non expanding bullet.

For Ontario; You find it in hunting regulations.
For small game, It goes not by WMUs but by townships.
A person hunting small game may not carry or use a rifle
of greater calibre than a .275-calibre rifle, except a muzzleloading
gun, in the geographic areas of Brant, Chatham-Kent,
Quote: "Durham, Elgin, Essex, Haldimand, Halton, Hamilton, Huron,
Lambton, Middlesex, Niagara, Norfolk, Northumberland,
Oxford, Peel, Perth, Toronto, Waterloo, Wellington or York."

For N.S. I don't know but, I'd check N.S. hunting regulations.

I glanced at it and; I think that any centerfire is a no go for small game in NS.

Funny, "Toronto" and "carry or use a rifle" is likely to result in bad day for a hunter, and a top news story for the media.
