Hunting with restricted rifle?

Nova Scotia is perhaps the most restrictive province for hunting regs in which they control firearms in the woods. March 15-September 15 nothing other than a shotgun with birdshot in the woods. Sep15-oct15 bear season so you can, with a permit to hunt bear, go in the woods with a rifle. If in these months you want to take a 5.56 in the woods you have to be hunting coyote and not deer. Craziest place in Canada. Oh yeah, and the second highest taxes in Canada next to Quebec. At least they get $8 childcare.

So obviously this is legal, man there are so many negative nancies around here!

This thread is about hunting with restricted weapons in Canada.

The mention of "a gun is a gun" by poster 667 almost appeared as "defiance" of the laws.

If poster 667 would have specified that he was shooting in the States in his original post, I would not have commented the way I did.

And if in fact this was the actual case, then I apologize to him and others for my comments.

ABLonewolf isn't the first to jump to an unfounded conclusion simply by looking at that pic... Lol.

I posted it in another thread a while back and was quickly chastised by someone who assumed the photo depicted a crime.

Yep...pretty intelligent posting an illegal activity/picture on CGN. Internet for that matter for all to share, or perhaps report to authorities.

So me posting a picture of me drinking a beer carrying a pistol in shoulder holster illegal? OH wait I was 10,000km away from Canada.

I have photos of myself hunting groundhogs with an AR15HB back in the day when it was legal. Now that it's not...can I be charged retroactively if I post them here? :)

Jeez, why do people always jump to the worst possible conclusion...?

SO..........y'all are saying, that if I decide to harvest a WT in my yard with a handgun, I probably shouldn't post a bunch of really nice photos of me with handgun and deer in front of my easily identifiable house or shop............Course I'd never do that, 'cause it's illegal, but if I had a weak moment, I'd sure as hell wouldn't post pics on the internet.............

The fact that they were hunting prairie dogs, should make it obvious that they were not in Canada. If you still haven't clued in, there are no hunt able populations of prairie dogs in Canada.

I don't know wether to...

Or...

One thing is sure though... it shouldn't matter what you hunt with.
Handgun hunting is something I think should be encouraged in that it would really give game a sporting chance.
If you wanted to harvest a moose using a handgun... You'd have to really work. You'd have to get close.
At least closer than if you were using a rifle

Is it possible that the OP was asking about hunting with a non restricted black rifle? Because that's what came to mind when I thought of it. Some of the non restricted black rifles look bad ass and wondered if people hunt with it.

This was resolved on page 5. So the latest posters on this page, and future ones can relax a little. This is now water under the bridge. Let's move on shall we?
