Good news for Newfoundlanders who would like to hunt with their .17HMR.
In March, I wrote to the Minister of the Department of Environment and Conservation requesting an amendment to the existing regulations so that the .17HMR could be used for small game and in the trapping context. (Currently the Regs permit only .22 rimfire and shotgun). I understand that others have made similar requests.
A favourable response was recently received and it appears they are going to make the necessary amendments to the Regs. I don't know yet whether it will be in place for the coming Fall hunting season, but at least its in the works.
