hunting with Wool gear.

I have a full set of Columbia Monarch wool (pants and jacket). love it. super warm, breaths, scary silent.

downside is it gets heavy when wet and you smell like a wet dog.

beat the crap out of it guiding moose and bear this fall, would buy it again in a heartbeat

bp ml seson here is first week of dec. been hunting in +10 and -10 with horizontal snow(the only kind we get)
I usually layer with the high tech poly stuff as the first, then add thin wool or wool blend (decent fine dress wear purchased at sally ann a couple sizes larger than necessary, cost a buck or 5 per piece). if thats not enough then i can add german army surplus pant and sweater plus light cammo/HO shell over top. BTW new wool should be virtually waterproof as long as the lanolin has not been washed out of it

Filson Double Mackinaw Cruiser for a hunting coat and Filson Mackinaw Pants. I also have a Filson Mackinaw vest to wear under my coat in colder deer hunting. It stays warm even when it's wet. However, my coat weighs about 75 pounds when it's wet. I've actually broken hangers trying to hang it up. I still love my Filson. What a great coat.

wool clothing

I got some army surplus wool pants this year. I don't know what I was wandering around in fleece for, this wool is sure cosy!!

I hope I don't get my fingers slapped for posting this but I also have a filson mackinaw size 38 chest. If anyone wants to buy it, it's in the classifieds.
