Again, happy for both of you and thoroughly enjoyng the read.......
Yes there are Grizzlies, they swam over from the mainland, not many though. I've never seen one on the Island. One was seen near Sayward which really isn't far from Campbell River. The last I heard there were about 6 on the Island. It's a lot like the island, just the further up the coast you go the bigger things get. And a lot less people! You guys have Grizzlies now too mind you.
It did two sandy Grizzlies without a pause or touch up. Like your weather luck I'm forced to believe it after seeing it.
Come try the west sometime!
Looks like a good time, probably not as good as hunting yourself though.
I have always enjoyed company Well hunting makes things interesting
Trapping is a solo activity hunting is fun wen you have good hunting partners

The knife is a Kershaw Moose Hunter.
Having raised three kids into outdoor pursuits and guided many new hunters to their first big game animal, and having taken many, many animals with archery gear over the past 35+ years, I can honestly say that I believe that these days, I would prefer to experience the exhuberance of a new hunter taking a nice animal, to taking the animal myself... not that I don't thoroughly enjoy the pursuit and harvesting of game, but my fondest memories are of the successes of my children and aging father and new hunters/friends... this one will be reflected upon warmly.

that smile, Man ... of course you have happy people around ... nothing can buy that ....
The flash in that photo highlighted our bad sunburns... we spent the day before glassing from an open gravel bar in full, unrelenting sunlight.
Were we in the same province?
Nobody that I know of has the "weather luck" that I have... I don't deserve it, but it just seems to work out that way... Ardent was positive that the Northwest coast was going to humble me and my "cocky" attitude... nope.
Don't be ridiculous... what schmuck would carry that abomination???
Hoyt Was wondering how you like that Mossberg as a bear defence gun opposed to say the Remington Police short barreled shotgun ?
Sorry wanted to ask you not trying to derail Ardents thread !
Thanks !
