Husky 1640 twist rate?

1 in 12. You can check it yourself by putting a lube patch on your cleaning rod then put it just into the chamber so it contacts the rifling. Then mark the chamber end and the top of the handle end. Push the patch through the barrel for one complete turn of the handle end mark and mark the chamber end again. The distance between the chamber end marks is the twist. One turn in whatever.
A 165 hunting bullet will kill any game you care to hunt and the .30-06 loves 'em.
If you ever need parts for a Husqvarna, don't bother looking. Husqvarna has been out of the firearms business for years.

Every 30-06 I've ever had, including Husqvarna, have all had one in ten twist.
220 grain round nose bullets have a great reputation for accuracy in 30-06 rifles, including the ones I have used them in.
200 grain pointed, like Nosler and Speer, are also very accurate.

The chart above with all the twist rates, paints with too broad a brush.
In the 30-06 it shows, "Husqvarna--- 12 inch twist."

I just rechecked my early model, after reading this. 1o inch twist.

This thread got me thinking Bruce. From the attached scan of info from my Sierra reloading manual, it shows the Husqvarna as a 1 - 12" twist. Until reading this thread I just 'assumed' that info to be correct:redface:, and accepted it as gospel.

A very quick check of the model 4000 Lightweight Husqvarna 30-06 I inherited from my Dad 'seems' to varify 1 - 12". I'm wondering if some of Husqvarnas earlier production models were 1 - 10" and this was changed at some point in time???

To that end and as it's one of the rifles I'm changing over to Barnes TTSX in, I've been testing some of the lighter Barnes 30 cal. So far, it does seem to have a preference for 150gr and 130gr TTSX.
