Husky 9.3 x 57 mm to 9.3x62mm

Sorry for the bad info Workin Man, For some reason I thought for sure they were longer. The TSX 9,3 must be a flat base then, am I right?

Yes the 9.3 TSX's are flat based and they don't have the long taper of the Accu-bond. The 250 TSX is about the same length as the jacket of the Accu-bond, its the plastic tip that makes it longer.

It would be nice to see Hornady start making a 230 - 250gr Interbond in 9.3.

Good combination of BC and bullet durability that should take care of anything in N.A.

I did notice that Trade-ex has some 232gr bullets (Norma if I remember right) in cup and core style and bonded as well. I don't remember the exact price, but I think it was pretty reasonable. I may have tried some myself if I hadn't already re-stocked on the TSX's when I was at Epp's. A 230 TSX might be nice as well.

From the reading I've done on these and from the experience with shooting the two boxes I got with my 9,3 they aren't that great at all. They don't hold together as well as even the 270gr Speer. If you can get them cheap then it might be okay. Of course at the 57 velocities they should hold up better.

At 2630 in my x62 they come apart in a big way compared to the Speer spitzer and the Accubond. That is the factory load, Oryx bullet.

I talked to Hornady about making a 250gr Interbond to go up against the Nosler. They are just "trying the water" for now to see what kind of sales they get with the 286gr Interlock before bring out another line.
* Be sure to send them an email to get a 250gr going!* The more the better!:)

I have also been sending e-mails to Ruger requesting that they start producing the Hawkeye Alaskan in 9.3x62 with the 20" barrel and rifle sights.

No word on that one yet.

Its the Oryx and Vulcan that they have in 232gr, the Oryx being the bonded bullet and the Vulcan is standard cup and core. They aren't all that much cheaper than the Nosler and Barnes, so I'll just stick with the TSX for now. Is the Hornady 286gr available to handloaders yet? Has anybody tried them? A 250gr Interbond would definitely be great. I'll send them an E-mail, maybe one to Barnes as well.

Andre at Higginson was getting the Hornady's in right away, well that was a month or two ago at least when he said that so they should be in stock now.
IIRC they were $32 for 50(?).

I wouldn't touch the Norma 9,3 components unless it is just in the x57. or the 72/74R. They just can't hold up.

Here's a link to a thread I started a couple of months ago. I haven't used the Hornadys on game yet but they will probably be my goto bullet once I've used up my cache of Nosler Partitions.

I have to disagree with you on the Normas.I used them in my 9.3x64 on Deer and i was more than happy with its performance. It did not matter, whether it was a long shot or short ones.i always had an exit hole and they got hit just like they were poleaxed.
I guess,it will take Wholesale 10 Years to get them Hornady bullets in????

Who has the 230gr bullets available and how much are they asking for them?

The bonded ones would be my choice.

Thanks.

Tradeexcanada.com has the 232gr Norma's listed, both bonded and standard cup and core. I don't recall the price offhand, but they were a bit less per bullet than the 250gr TSX or Accu-bonds. Keep in mind the Norma's are 100bullets/box and the Barnes and Nosler are 50 bullets/box.

I bought one of each (X57 and X62) from the last batch that Anthony brought in, both are nice old Mausers and I can see no reason to hot rod the X57, it is a medium speed medium bore that works just fine.

If you want to go hot, pick up a 358 Norma and go to town with horsepower.

If you want magnum power, it is much smarter to start with a magnum calibre in a magnum rifle!
