Husky 9.3 x 57 mm to 9.3x62mm

I have two 96 actions in 9.3x57 and one in 9.3x62. On the latter, I have to load the Privi Partisan 286gr bullets to the second cannelure just so that they could fit in the magazine. I don't think that I'll feel comfortable going beyond the starting load in H4350 on the Hogdon site, which means that I'll probably be getting around 2300fps max compared to 2000-2100 for the x57 reloads. A 98 action or newer design would be in order for anyone trying to ream out their chamber to x62.

I also talked to Hornady about 235-250gr 9.3 bullets.Acquired a FN 98 Husqvarna 9.3x62,a lb of RE15,a box of 100 Lapau brass and a box of 286gr Hornady's.Waiting on the dies.This one came with a Timney trigger and Weaver bases............Harold
 
I think either WSS or Russell's in Calgary has Swift bullets.Looking foreward to shooting mine.It doesn't have the ferral [steel tubular spacer] in the stock at the rear action bolt.Previously glassbedded up front.I will install a spacer when I can locate one.Some have used a piece of auto brake line in it's place....................Harold
 
9.3x57 Re-Chambered to 9.3x62

My brother re-chambered two 9.3x57's to 9.3x62, one a Swede 96 and the other a Husqvarna 98. The Swede had an over-size chamber so the x62 reamer cleaned it up nicely. Recoil became much more sustantial as the little 96 only weighs about 7lb. Barry at Bits of Pieces in Delta did this one. The HVA 98 was done by Martini & Hagn, a very nice job, however the bore of the original barrel has had quite a few rounds though it (1937 vintage) so it will never be a tack driver. Accuracy is adequate for most hunting situations. I have two 9.3x57's, one a 96 and the other a 98, also two HVA Model 1640's in 9.3x62, one of them with a brand new Montana barrel. Either chambering is entirely adequate and then some for the majority of game hunted in North America.
