I am about to pull the trigger on one of the m98 sporters they have at tradex. Many of the descriptions state slight crack in tang or chip out of butt etc. I was wondering if anyone has bought a new stock for one of these and if so from where? Any problems encountered? I plan to buy one with a very good bore/barrel and replace the stock if they are available anywhere. Price would still be less than a new zastava in the same caliber. Thanks all.

First, you need to know which action it is. It can be either a M/94/96/38 or a M/98. The M/98 is the Zastava equivalent while the M/94/96/38 is a small ring action.

I restocked mine with a semi-inlet from Brownell's. Plain walnut but a good solid stock. You can also repair the stock with good epoxy.

Baribal, do you know if a Boyds CLASSIC HUSQVARNA MAUSER LARGE RING #1 BARREL CHANNEL will fit without too much work on a Husqvarna Commercial FN98?

Well, I guess, as it's the good action designation, but I never personally tried. But all the Boyds stock I have fitted were pretty much "finished" and just needed a bit of tweaking.
