Husky H-5000

Rembo

I have exactly the same gun in 7mm rem mag as well. One of the best rifles I have ever owned and will shoot 160 grains into 0.5" if I do my part. It is my go to gun. The trigger on mine is not great but it gets the job done. If I were to change anything that would be it but with the kind of accuracy I am getting I have always resisted doing anything to it. If it isn't broke why mess with it.

These rifles are a bargain. Can't understand why anyone would buy a new Yikka or Savage over one of these. But I guess I am glad they do.

Have you ever run your load over a chrony?...I'm wondering how much speed I'll lose over my 24" Sako.....we'll find out if the weather ever warms up here....

How's the trigger on yours....I have one in 308 Norma Mag and it has a long heavy pull....

Russ...

Hi there; I'm new to this site. It sounds like yours has the 'original' military grade trigger. If the trigger bothers you, depending on the type of boltshroud/safety used on yours, it might be possible to replace it with a quality aftermarket trigger?
Cheers,

Funny you should mention I had similar thoughts and tried to shoot over a chrony last year but it malfunctioned and I couldn't get readings. I would be interested in the results when you get them.

One more note - a friend has the same rifle as well and both of us have noted that the rifles are incredibly accurate but fairly fussy regarding the load run through them. To date I have just stuck with factory ammo but found an astonishing 4" swing in accuracy just sampling the various factory ammo in various grains. I found the best factory loads thus far to be fedral premium accubond in 160 grain and can cover 3" groups with a quarter.

I am just getting started in handloading (no idea why I waited until now to start) and will be working up handloads for this gun soon. I would appreciate an update on your recipe that you find works when you start working up loads for it so we can compare notes.

I have included a pic of my husky below.
