A good friend of mine gave me the beautiful Husqvarna rifle pictured below, i'm not entirely sure what the model or year is but i'm told its from sometime in the 50's. This rifle has an old Pecar Berlin scope that i find hard on the eyes, meaning the eye relief is so poor that me and my friend have both been struck hard while firing it. I am looking to replace it with a nice Leupold scope and want to put the original iron sights back on. It looks like this rifle wore a Williams rear sight at some point which was replaced by the scope, the base is still attached.
My plan is to remove the Williams base and plug the holes with small screws and file them down, remove the scope mount and replace with some nice Leupold mounts if possible, find replacement iron sights to go on the barrel and sight in the irons, then set up the scope with QR mounts so that i can use it with irons if i so please. I was hoping someone could give me recommendations on the appropriate rear sight to fix this application, as well as scope mounts and rings i could use. Thank you.

Seems to be a model 3000 "Crown Grade", a better pic of the sling swivel would tell that for sure. The S/N would tell you what year it was made.

Check out the Husqvarna Rifle sticky in this section.

That's the rear sight you're looking at;

That model came out in the mid 1960s.
It probably came drilled and tapped for a Lyman 48 aperture and the wood appears to be cut down, indicating it once had the sight mounted on it.
As an aside, the first of that model rifle I saw was a wholesale salesman's demonstrator he had, to show to the retail trade. It had such poor checkering that the salesman apologized to us for it!
However, that was the only one I ever saw with such poor checkering.

thanks for the pics, and info guys. Ill try and take a few more pics later tonight and put em up. Any place i could get a proper rear sight to replace it, or what else could be used in its place, i wanna have the irons sighted in as a backup with a QD scope setup, the scope mount on it now is pretty thick so i dont know if the irons would be usable with it screwed on.

H4831, it did have what looks like a williams FP reciever sight base on the reciever, iv removed it, and the stock is intact except for a small gouge under the sight. Gonna see if i cant fix that up a bit and is there any commercially available rear open sight that would work best in this aplication. I was looking at some options on the cabelas website, marble arms, and williams.

Yes, the old Lyman, Marbles and Williams are those easily found. The dovetail is a standard 3/8" one.
