Husqvarna 1600 Series questions.

Ok, I've had my eye on one of these rifles for some time. I'm looking at one right now from trade ex in 6.5x55 with very good bore/very good condiiton. It comes with a front hooded sight and I have questions on how to scope this? Do I need special bases/rings for these mauser type rifles that'll be hard to find, or can I get them in any local gunstore? Also can I have low sitting mounts/scope with a hooded front sight or will it be in the way? One last dumb question whats the difference between small/large ring?? Example, these are like the 98's and are small ring, but the 96 is large, whats the difference??

Probably very dumb questions I know, but I gotta learn somehow

the 1600's are all factory drilled/tapped, most major mfg's make them, weaver #46 and #55 i believe

you won;t see the front hood unless you have a very low powered scope, and it won;t be a problem anyways.

the 1600's are considered a small ring, just teh diameter of the receiver ring

I used the Weaver 46/55 bases on mine with Burris Zee rings. I would have used the Leupold mounts if a two piece base were available.

"Large/small ring" refers to the diameter of the receiver ring.
