Husqvarna 1640 trigger

That's not bad for a Mauser trigger, which, for safety reasons (sear engagement + spring holding capability) should not break much under 3.5 lbs.
You may be able to increase it a bit by polishing (not grinding) the mating surfaces, to smoothen the contact (the slip). Take agood care to not change the surfaces angles...

Sorry for my lack of husky knowledge, but what type of safety does the 1640 use? I know messing with a trigger bubba style can render a shroud wing safety useless.

Yes, Timney made a trigger (called and sold by Tradewinds-HVA). The original Timney-Tradewinds use the original safety lever assembly to also lock the bolt.
Any aftermarket Mauser 98 trigger with a side safety will work with the 1640, but it will only lock the trigger and will also need a bit of alteration of the stock to fit in and for the safety lever (some alteration is also needed to install the Timney-Tradewinds trigger, but not for the safety lever).

Got a nice one in 30/06 . Trigger breaks @ 4 3/4 pounds - any preactical suggestions or do I live with it ?

Thanks

My inclination, if the pull is crisp, is to go ahead and hunt it. 4 3/4 lbs isn't bad especially if you stand hunt a lot. Your fingers might end up a bit on the numb side and i find a slightly heavier trigger can be nice under those situations.

YMMV.
