Picked up this clean Husqvarna at WSS on the way out of Kamloops this weekend. Didnt buy any guns at the show but couldnt resist this one when I saw it on the rack. Might take it to Alberta for Elk this September.

Nice wood on that Model 46. It's been rechambered from 9.3x57. lookis like some money has been spent on the safety and bolt. Good looking HVA.

Not to be anal but that should be a 146 shouldn't it? The 46 being the 96 action?

In talking with Ralf (M&H) at the Calgary gunshow I asked about getting my 146 reamed to the 62 case, he said it could be done but isn't the best due to the fast taper at the chamber of the barrel. He said you are good so long as you stay well below max loads if reloading to avoid bulging the chamber.

Not trying to be stormy here at all, just giving you a heads up Geoff.;)
Like the lumber on that rifle. I do miss mine........

Nice looking rifle. Just curious, what type of bullet is in the first photo, and is it factory or handloaded?

Nice catch.

It was rechambered from 9.3X57. The "genuine" 9.3X62 don't have the "mm" after the 9.3. ;

It sometimes clean well when you rechamber a X57 to X62, sometime it doesn't and you have to give the barrel one more twist to clean out everything. If you still have a ring caused by the former chambering shoulder, then you likely will have extraction problems too.
But from the look of the (professional looking) stamping, it must have been well done.

The original 9.3X57mm was stamped like this;

And yes, it looks like the M/146 - the M/46 also had the cocking piece with the "thumb decocking projection" like this one, below a M/649;

Hey thanks for all the replies and info guys. Bases were on from previous owner, but likely not scope if I keep it. I'll have my 'smithy buddy look it over before I shoot it.
Cheers
Geoff

Very nice find!! Hope you have fun with it, and bag some Elk along the way. I have a Stiga, wich is a Husky 96 Mauser action that is great to carry and hits like a locomotive. Whoever did the work was a craftman, good find and goodluck! Dale in T-Bay
