I just traded for a Husqvarna Crown Grade 270 in VG condition.
It has a Walnut stock with a low comb, a black fore end tip, grip cap, and butt plate. There is some damage to the stock and can be repaired.
The action is Mauser with a steel trigger guard, hinged floor plate, and the bolt is jeweled. It retains about 75 to 80% of its bluing.
It is also drilled and tapped for a peep sight, probably a Williams.
The barrel is slim and 24” long with the longest front sight ramp I have ever come across, measuring 95mm. The rifling is clean and shines like a new barrel.
I am missing a rear sight assembly and need one to restore it.
The gun is equipped with a German made Pecar 3-7 X 35 scope. The cross hairs are thick and taper to the middle, on both sides and the bottom. The optics are clear and seem to be quick to focus on a target.
What quality is the scope, I haven’t heard of the name before?
The mounts are about as rugged as they get, all steel and the front sight swivels into place and locks. The rear has two large screws that lock the mount to the base and can also be used for adjusting the scope left or right. The previous owner didn’t have access to proper screwdrivers and the screw heads are mutilated.
Can I replace the screws and make it look presentable; I presume they are metric threads?
Should I spend the money and have it reblued and the rear sight replaced or have another barrel installed? Or have the rear sight slot filled and the front sight removed?
What can you tell me about the gun as far as quality and workmanship?
Does it have potential to be restored, or converted to something else,
or would it make a good trade item?
What value should I put on it as a trade item?
