Husqvarna fixed sights

Recently picked up and old commercial 98 Husqvarna is 8x57. Seems to shoot high with every load I try with it. It has fixed sights...is there any way to adjust elevation? Different rear blades? Its about 12 inches high at 100 yards.
 
You need a taller front sight, but it will likely require some filing to get it to fit. Be careful, the front base is only soldered on and it's easy to knock it off completely. The other alternative is to file the back sight down.

If you want to keep the rifle "original," the adjustable Husqvarna rear sight fits the same dovetail as the fixed rear sight, so you could just get one of those. They are available on gunnutz from time to time. You shouldn't have too much trouble finding one.

And for changing the front sight, its worth investing in one of those sight insert pushing tools so you don't end up knocking off the front ramp while tapping out the insert. These are also available used on gunnutz from time to time.

I can't remember the number of Husqvarnas I have seen with the front sight ramp missing, but its a lot. The somewhat fragile soldered on front sight ramp and also the way the checkering runs off the bottom of the pistol grip are two design features of Husqvarna rifles that have always bugged me.

On my husky 9.3x62, I replaced the fixed rear sight with a Lyman 16b, sum adjustment, and folding,
I then bought a Williams peep for the rear reciever, but had to remove the .500 front blade and get a .450 to get the peep to work,
Neither were very expensive, $30 for the 16B, and $17 for the front blade, and paid $20 for the used Williams peep,
Much more accurate, with the longer sighting plane. Over original sights.
 
In my experience, the only problem with even a very good set of open sights is that with only a few exceptions all my best game was taken in (legal) early morning or evening twilight when I needed a scope. Open sights and peeps are fine for a stroll at mid-day, but when the trophy bucks sneak out at dusk, iron sights aren't always much use, at least not in my experience.
