You can't see it too clearly in post #117 but when Dad put a scope on his '06, he went with a set of Weaver pivot mounts. Initially, I was a little skeptical that the scope may not come back to zero after repeated pivoting of the scope off and on. At the range I tried to see what the result would be, no problem. There could possibly be a problem if a contaminant ended up between the ring and base but from what I tried, the zero didn't seem to be effected.
That mount set up seemed to work well so I put the same on my Marlin 444S, Marlin 1895GS and Winchester model 70 in 458WM.
