Husqvarna Sporting Rifles #### - ALL MODELS!!!

Here's my Husky 46A in 9.3x57. I replaced the trigger with a Bold with side safety, added a Pachmyar Old English pad (more for LOP than recoil reduction), added a Weaver K2.5 in Burris Vee QD rings and replaced the plastic grip cap with a metal one from Brownells. GMK in Thunder Bay replaced the bolt handle. I also have a Brownells Latigo sling coming for it as well.

Thanks everyone! It was a fair bit of work, but what else is there to do in the summer ;) Here's what I started with
IMG_0075.jpg

Me and my dad also "fluted" the comb...doesn't do much for functionality, but I think it looks a lot nicer ;) We also "reenforced" the wrist...after seeing a few rifles cracked (or worse) there, I thought it was a good idea when I had it apart. It was also the first rifle I bedded, and I have to admit the 24 hours while the AcraGlas dried was pretty nerve wracking. The relief when I could pull the action out was a great feeling :p

Here's my collection

My4Huskies.jpg

They're all 1600 series actions.
The top two were posted on here before. The Top one is a 30-06. It has the shorter barrel, checkering only on the pistol grip, and is wearing a Bushnell Scopecheif VI 2.5-8x32.

The next one down is my Uncle's .270 that I aquired. It has the longer barrel, no checkering whatsoever, and is wearing a VXII 3-9x40.

The next one I acquired a couple months ago. It's chambered in .270 also, and is very light. You'd think it would be the same weight as the 30-06 above, but it's lighter. The wood must be less dense or something. It has the shorter barrel, checkering on the pistol grip and the forearm, and is wearing a Vari-X II 3-9X40.

The last one I acquired only this week. I got it from Trade-ex, and it was covered in grease. It took a while to get the grease out of every little nook and cranny. It's identical to my Uncle's rifle in that it has the longer barrel and plain stock with no checkering. But it's chambered in 6.5x55. I've got a Burris FF II 3-9X40 with no place to go, so I'll put it on this rifle when I get some rings.

Cory, you've got a beautifull rifle there! I think the K2.5 is a good looking match for it. I've got a K3 on my 7x57. Huntin' Gun I like your collection as well, especialy the 2nd .270. I kind of wish my .308 was a .270; partly as the longer cartridge would 'fill' the action better. But I spose the .308 is better suited to the shortish barrel....I guess there is no perfect rifle! Here is my .308 and last weeks moose.

Well, the .308 Win chambering is less common than the .270 ....
Good job on the moose. I had no luck (full moon) for my first moose hunting trip this year... I wish the .358 NM spits some lead in the coming weeks...

Huntin' gun,

I really love your newest one. I check out TradeEx quite often and I don't remember seeing that one. Did they just get that one in and you gobbled it up or are they not listing everything they have. A 1600 in 6.5x55 seems to be my Holy Grail.

;)Good caliber choice and good luck in your efforts. My 358NM will probably lead a quiet existence this year, with the exception of some Barnes 225gr TSX load testing.:( No Moose draw for me this year.

Again, good luck and all possible success:),
:cheers:

Well, Johnn, it will only be weekends for the remaining weeks... I ran out of hollydays...

wjt,
At fisrt glance, the rifle seems to be a Husky 5000 model (22 inches barrel). Except for the higher grades, the Euro models usually don't have the fore end checkered. The caliber also sounds very uncommon (but not impossible) for a newly European imported rifle.

Thanks!
I was surfing tradex a couple weeks ago and saw it way at the back page... But it said 'on hold'. It looked good and had no cracks in the wood, but was already spoken for. Rats. So I sent Anthony an email stating that if that deal fell through, then I'd be happy to take it. I figured that was a long shot. But that deal did fall through, and so now it's mine! I don't think it was on the website for very long.

OK,

For all those guys who can't resist the occasion to post their HVA rifles, here you go.

Mod, maybe this can be a sticky if you will, it will save all the Q & A about the HVA rifles models and calibers.

I'll start with these, as a teaser;

A 1651 Special (caliber .358 NM)

16511.jpg

A 30-06 1600 Std (early 1640) besides a late (FN M/98) 648 - Cal. 8X57

1600StdVsM6481.jpg

From left to right;

1956 Sako Hi-Power (FN 300 (to be Supreme), a 1640 series (actually an American model 3000 Crown Grade, in .308 win), a Brno 21H, a 649 (Early, M/38 base, "Commercial" action) in cal. 9.3X62 and finally a 1929 M/46 in 9.3X57 (Carl Gustav made M/94 action), of course.
