Husqvarna Sporting Rifles #### - ALL MODELS!!!

While generally the case, not all rifles in 9.3X57 are roll-stamped with just 9.3 to designate that caliber. Here's the rarely-seen complete calibre designation.

Anyone care to guess or determine the model? The world of Husqvarna firearms is varied indeed. :D

Some are stamped like this. I don't have access to my datas right now, but if I recall, from the top of my head, they are M/46A S/N above 175 000... is this right?

Well, my wrong, actually, I was at work and wrote the wrong S/N serie; should have read "above 40200"... I shouldn't write numbers without checking. The S/N sequence I gave was for the Shotguns of the same post 1942 period. It was a bit confused in my head that day ...

Anyways, what I wanted to say is that's it's a late M/46A. At that time, they had started up making the 46AN and they had to specify which 9.3 it was.
Yours even have the sleeved chamber / sight base / ring of the M/640.
The late 46A early 640's are somewhat confusing, because the S/N sequence that supposed to be early 640's will carry the M/46A/B stock style and serrated chamber / sight base and many think they are 46B...
Anyways, the cut between 1943" M/46 and 1944's M/640 is not always very clear.. I personally consider the arrival of the beavertailed beech stocks as being the beginning of the 640s...

So I just acquired another Husky. A 4100 in 6.5x55. I just got it this evening, and it's really nice. Good wood, and even a nice trigger. It has some sort of European scope bases and I was just planning to remove them. Well, that didn't happen. I was just messing up the slot in the screws, and I even broke the tip on my screwdriver. I used some penetrant, and even a torch to heat things up, and no luck. I think these are on here to stay. So my question is, from the photos below, can anyone tell me what kind of rings I need, and where I could find them? I sure hope they'll work with a 1" scope.

It appears that those bases are soldered on.
If appropriate rings cannot be identified/found, you may have little choice but to drill the heads off the screws and melt the solder to remove the bases. Hopefully that solder has not bonded the screw shanks to the receiver threads.
I've had good results heating the solder to just barely melting point and scrubbing it off the blued steel with fine steel wool.

A fine rifle in a great chambering, worth whatever it takes to get up and running ... IMO.

Apologies if I am in the wrong forum, but I need some guidance in finding a replacement trigger for a Husqvarna 1640 action. I believe the rifle I have is a deluxe 3000 model in 30-06. Serial number suggests manufacturing date is 1965. When this rifle arrived, the existing trigger broke at 8lb., so I took it to a gunsmith who worked on it, and although the trigger breaks at about 4lb now, it has a very long creep getting there. Timney appears not to mfg. an aftermarket trigger for a 1640, so any info on where else to look is appreciated.

To be honest, I've looked and have never been able to find an aftermarket trigger. I now own 7 1600 series Huskies, and have had a few more pass through my safe. If there is a good aftermarket trigger out there, I haven't been able to find it.

Your smith should be able to do better than a 4 lb creepy trigger when you pay him for a tigger job. If not, then he's a pretty sucky smith.

In all the gunsmithing manuals about Mauser rifles, it is clearly stated that Mauser type triggers should not be set below 3 to 4 pounds for safety reasons (spring tension, sear engagement etc..).
As for aftermarket triggers for the 1640 series, you still can look for a Tradewinds - HVA trigger, which was made by Timney and is designed to use the orignal safety lever, but they are hard to come by.
You can also use M/98 adjustable triggers such as the Timney Featherweight or Sako (very hard to come by, but certainly the best trigger a Mauser can use) even the Parker-Hale triggers, the only thing is that the original safety lever won't work anymore and you will have to make a notch inside the stock to have the new trigger safety work, and it will only lock the trigger, not the bolt.

You can also install or have installed a Hubber Concept Anti-Friction Ball Trigger, which should help a lot. You can also drill a hole in the back, below the sear and install the original pin so the original safety lever still works.

Many thanks for the info H.G. & Baribal. It is disappointing to all of us that considering the number of HVA rifles out there, no manufacturer has picked up the ball and produced a decent replacement. I will pursue the advice given and hope to find a solution.

Actually, two or three years ago, Timney asked on different forums "which classic rifle would you like to have triggers made for?" and the winner was HVA 1640 series. They said everything was being set-up and we got a couple of chats with the technical guys, then, after all the wait, nothing ever came through.
They said they still have the drawings, but I suspect there's a patent or some liability issues as these triggers never been sold on Timney's name, only under Travedwinds / HVA name. I had a couple of these left but used it on my own rifles. The original boxes are white with no inscription of any kind.

Been racking my brain for days trying to recall the name of the trigger I put in my Brno, pretty certain it would function well in any crf HVA action and it is nice and compact to minimize wood removal.
HVH in Winnepeg is where I got it from if that helps at all.

I put a Bold trigger from Boyds in my Husqvarna 1600 and it works great. The one I got was for a Mauser 98 with side safety.I had to open up the in-letting a little as well as the opening in the trigger guard but was very pleased with the trigger.

Thanks Hagar, that's very helpful. Here's a note I received today from Timney....."at this time we do not have anything for the HVA 1640 action. We have kicked the idea around but not developed anything for it at present."

First Husqvarna, a 1600 in 6.5x55

Bought this little sweetheart at the beginning of October from trade Ex.
Husqvarna 1600 in 6.5x55 Swedish
According to the serial number (318###) date should be 1964.

Installed Weaver scope base # 46 on the front and a #55 on the rear and attached a Bushnell Banner I had sitting around, took it to the range today and it shoots a heck of a lot better than I can aim it.
