Husqvarna Sporting Rifles #### - ALL MODELS!!!

HVA did not chamber sporting M/96 in 30-06. Both the M/96 and the 1640 are small ring Mauser, the later being a compound between the M/96 and the M/98.
Talley do not list the 1640, but rather the M/96 and while bot the M/96 and 1640 share the same bases profile and bolt pattern, they are different in lenght, so a one piece base for the M/96 won't fit the 1640 and vice versa. There will be no problem in using a two pieces set, though.
 
I have a question.

I was out with the 270 model 3000 today I had forgotten that if I didn't seat the bullets in the mag well perfectly when I extracted and rammed forward with the bolt the next round the bullets left in the mag would pop up jamming up.

I feel that this is to do with the leaf spring not pushing the bullets up hard enough I tried stretching the spring which seems to make it a bit better but I would if possible like to replace it with a new one.

Anyone know where I can get one of these springs?

Re M/96 small ring scope mounts/rings I just got off the phone with Prophet River he is sending me Talley lightweight low and med rings to try I'll send the set back that are not the right height.

These and a scope are going to be my son's birthday/Christmas present and I'm going to hunt with it until he gets home from the States in 2 1/2 years.

I just had to LOL = my x-wife would be pissed if she knew I was going to use her dad's gun... :cool:

Already posted on Gunboards, but we need your help for updating the database started by the late SBHVA (RIP), seen the large flow of new importation of the different models based on both the M/38 and the FN98 actions - which, before the 2000 were scarce in America - We will also use these datas to determine as precisely as we can, when the changes occured.
So I am asking you if you want to povide us with the following informations;


1 - S/N - I you will, you can mark the two last digits with an "X"

2 - Caliber

3 - Action type (Small Ring - M38, Large Ring FN98)

4 - Stock configuration (most are "beavertail fore end)

5 - Stock material - Beech or Walnut

6 - Location (Country)

7 - Condition (optional)

As an example;

90027 / 9.3X62 / M/38 / Beavertail Fore End / Beech / Canada / All original, not D&T 95% blue

This would be of great help!

Hey guys, here are a few pics of my dad's huskies. The one without a scope is a 30-06, and the scoped one is a 7mm rem mag. They both have jewel machined bolts and Monte Carlo stocks. They both have engraving on the floor plates. The 30-06 has a rosewood tip on the fore end of the stock. The 7mm doesn't have iron sights. They are both HVA Carl Gustafs Förenade Fabriksverken.

The 30-06 serial # is 623### and the 7mm is 626###. They were both bought new in Sweden in the early 70's before my parents immigrated to Canada.

Baribal and others, can you help me with identifying the model #s? I'm positive they're both 1900 actions but I don't know that much about huskies in general, though I'm trying to learn as much as I can. Now for the pics. Just some crappy cell phone shots.

These are nice rifles!
The '06 is a Super Lyx (equivalent to N-A grade II but with an engraved TG/FP, or a grade III with sights).
The 7mm RM is definitely a European model, which I am not 100% sure, but it's stocked as a "Monte-Carlo Standard Magnum" but with some of the features of the grade III (more like your Super Lyx) rifles. The absence of sight is one, also the jeweled bolt and the engraved floorplate is another. Let me dig up a bit and I should end with the correct model.
 
Yes, but you will have to dig a bit to find some. If this can help, 264Magnum had some for sale some time ago....

Never seen or recorded one, so if they exist, they are in very, very low count. Yours is a 458-07. Nice catch.
 
I have two of the mags here now from 264magnum.

My 270 Wby loads are a bit to long for the mags so had to seat the the bullets a bit deeper to fit them and I am limited to only two rounds per mag which really isn't an issue to me = I hunt with single shots more than any other rifle action style so 3 rounds in the rifle when I'm totally loaded and if I jump out of the vehicle for a quick shot I normally only put 2 rounds in the gun.

I'm heading to the gun club as soon as I get the range gear/ammo and rifles loaded into the truck so will know if my rifle/loads are as accurate seated deeper if they are I am going to be a happy hunter.

Well unfortunately that didn't go as well as I hoped while the mags worked perfectly the accuracy of my loads has definitely changed for the worse.

I've a second plan now the mags have a split up the front of them going to pry one open a bit so the one bullet tip can slip down in between the split if this works I won't have to change my loads at all.
 
I just got this Model 46a HVA yesterday in 9.3x57 (Thanks Tradeex!) and I kick me arse for not having one of these sweet handling sporting rifles years ago. I've had numerous Swede M96/38 milsurp rifles in the past, but this is my first commercial version of this type. It's marked Husqvarna Vapenfabriks A.B. and was made in 1943. The metal on this rifle is in excellent shape inside & out and nicely finished in a satin blue. The bore and chamber are super clean without signs of wear or corrosion, rifling is still sharp & grooves are dead smooth.

The walnut stock has some dings which I'll steam out, but no cracks or gouges. The factory sights are drift adjustable at the rear and the front is a replaceable blade. (Good luck finding one.) I like these sights just fine on this rifle. I'll pillar bed the action and install a Huber trigger, but not scope this gem. Love that Swedish
steel & quality. The stock dimensions are perfect for folks of smaller stature and fit the larger folks fine, though the grip area is quite slim.


This is a light and lively rifle to point....very much like my Winchester 94 in .375 , and the 9.3x57 has the edge on "uumph" due to its' 286 gr. bullet driven to the same speed as the Winnie's 200 grainer. This rifles' gonna be tossing a bunch of lead from now on.:)

If this can help, I have two heights of sight blades (6mm and 7,5 mm) that fit the front ramp in the EE.
