Target Varmint stock wanted
Hello I have a Target /Varmint in 243 that I got with the wrong stock. Looking for an original or the correct information in order to get the right stock from Boyd's. Might take even a nice used non original stock.

It will be very hard to find a V/T stock. My guess is that you have a 1900 action, right?
If so, you can look for semi inletted stocks that filts a Carl Gustav (sometimes spelled Carl Gustaf) 1900 or Zoli 1900 (but the Zoli have a slightly different inletting at the side safety).....

I've posted some of these pictures to another thread, but here's my last acquisition. Domestically known as a M1951 "Hi Power Deluxe".
With the help of our resident expert Baribal and others, it's Swedish designation would be 640, built on an FN98 action and serial number from 1953.

I removed the Weaver scope mounts and filled the holes with plug screws. The stock safety had been replaced with a 2 position Parker Hale safety by the PO, which gave me some grief when it came time to disassemble and reassemble the bolt;
I used the factory drilled holes to mount a peep sight, the Lyman 57 SMET;
I've since taken the rifle to the range and shot both 150 gr FMJ, and the 180 gr cast lead bullets that I intend to mostly shoot. It's a joy to shoot, and seems milder on my shoulder with the 150 grain bullets than my M38 with 140's.
Now that the Husqvarna bug has bitten me hard, I have since ordered an M46 in 9.3x57. It should be here next week. I just love the look and feel of quality steel and real wood.

I think I have your rifle's sister, a 1953 in 270.

Actually, Tradewinds only used the "1951" nickname for that year (and the stocks are beech), but they kept the "High Power" (which is the pre-Supreme commercial FN action name) until pas 1954. They used 1000/1100 only for the last batch, after the introcduction of the 1600/1640 but still called them "High Power".

darn it! I've following this thread but working hard to resist the Husky bug. Must say it's very hard. I have room for two more long rifle in my safe and want an old school steel and wood rifle. i've been wathcing husky, brno, and winnie M70s but can't make the final decision. what is it about the Husky that generated over 1780 posts?
Tradex just listed another boat load of 1600's/FN98's in 30'06/8x57/270/6.5x55/9.3x62
I was eyeing this one but with too many 8x57's in the safe already so I passed it up. Didn't take long for it to sell. Nice wood for a 1640.

I quickly scooped up an early model (steel trigger guard) 1600 carbine in 30-06 (model 4000?) from the recent batch. It has the "Monte Carlo" raised comb walnut schnabel stock. No cracks or major dents/scratches just "hunted with" handling marks which I don't mind... it's going to be used in the field anyways. The metal has some minor spotted surface rust on top of the barrel. No biggy. The bore is mint!
I would prefer a .308 in a 20.5" barrel... but I really can't complain. The 30-06 will lob heavier bullets with ease.
Installed Buehler bases and rings with a Leupold Vari-X IIc 2-7. I would like to find the proper sight hood and rear sight for it.
This gun handles awesome! The tad short LOP is the perfect length for wearing a hunting jacket and no maxi pad to snag on my gear! I can't wait to brutalize my shoulder 180 grains at a time.

I like the steel guard version better myself as well. You will want to have some hearing protection on with that 52cm barrel lol gets pretty blasty in 30'06. I have one I hunt with in 6.5x55 with a 53cm barrel and it's an ear ringer pretty bad as well.

Yeah... too 'organic' for my tastes. Simple and utilitarian is what floats my boat.
As for blasty... this gun is replacing my early 90s custom shop 20" barreled 350 Remington Magnum Model Seven with a Kevlar stock... now that's a blasty beast! I'm pretty much shelving my magnums at this point.
Bando…I’ve asked that question many times myself over the last 15 - 17 years and am not sure of a qualified answer yet.
One thing is for sure though, if found at a gun show it is Husky and Husky alone I ask for. I now own 4 --- one 6.5x55 purchased for my son, 8x57, 9.3x57 and a 30-06 that started it all.
You sound like you’re ready for one … do you know an owner who would let you use for a day?
I have two rifles that appear to be identical to yours, a 7x57 and a 270. I always thought it was called a 4100 Lightweight. Is there a difference?

Here's a new comer into my safe, HVA Model 246 SN N700, usually, I am picky when it comes to rarer models, and prefer 100 % originals, but for this one, since there is only ONE all original known in North America, I took the plunge for a modified example,
It was D&T, it got a recoil pad, an aftermarket low safety lever, then, one day got a finish made 1600/1640 aftermarket adjustable trigger and a commercial style bolt handle, all professionally executed.
So, for those who are curious about the Model 246 ;
