Husqvarna Sporting Rifles #### - ALL MODELS!!!

Thank you S! Always appreciate your wisdom!

I thought a 6.5 Swede should be there but had never seen one. A search begins.

Most likely pre-49 (so-called Commercial), so transition actions. They do still have military remains, like the stripper clip cut and don't have the "release lever" pin of the post-49 commercial, They may or may not have the "H" raceway cut in the ring, Typically, the few '46 are full military, the '47 and '48 are tansitional, gradually becoming the "Commercial " "H-Ring" actions.

Is it true that only a couple hundred of the fn98 based 6.5s were made? Read that on another forum that you are on Baribal but posted by a different member there

Well, yes, indeed.
For the 646 (M38) only 409 pieces were made. Serial range is within 60001 to 60409
For the 646 (M98), only 293 pieces were made. Serial range is within 60501 to 60793 (1947 until 1951).
That means +/- 100 for 1947, +/- 149 in 1948, +/- 50 in 1949, no records for 1950 and just 3 official in 1951. As usual with HVA production, the recorded serial and the actual stated number made don't closely match, so we don't know for sure but it'sclose enough.
There have been some more made after 1951, but they are minimal.

Yes really crisp. And almost no travel. The old one I swear the travel was 3/8”. I left the trigger at the factory 3lb setting and quite happy with it.
This is very interesting indeed. That is one of the upgrades I have planned for the GF's rifle, and I was wondering what is available for trigger upgrades on the 1640.

As you do some more shooting in the months to come, please post regular updates with your overall impression of the Timney and if you would recommend the purchase.

Scottish Teeth, Huber Concepts also has a trigger for the Husqvarna 1600 series. It’s slightly more complicated to get it to where you want than a timney, but it’s another option.

Where can a fella get a rear iron sight that would fit a 1970 Husky 1900? Mine came with the sight removed, and it has the dovetail notch left open.

Not really any practical use, just the notch is a bit like

I know you don't look at the mantlepiece when you are stoking the fire, but...

It doesn't have a front sight, so this would be purely aesthetic. It could even be some sort of dovetail plug

There are blanks made specifically for that purpose and can be left as is or filed to profile and blued.

Without a front sight, that would be the direction I would go.

I believe it is a 3/8” dovetail but you should measure first. An internet search for 3/8” dovetail blank will give you multiple options.

Williams Sights should have both blanks and replacement rear sights.

For the rear sight, it really depends on the model / year of manufacture, but what was the most common upgrade / replacement was a folding rear sight. From the top of my head, it's something like the Marbles 69H. That's pretty much what originally sold at that time.

Posting for a friend.

Any idea what model this is? Or what the crown with “RP” means ? Serial number seems to date to 1964.

I would call the barrel length 23” (photo below) not really sure where to measure to.

No engraving on the floor plate, but the butt says husqvarna Mauser 98
