I'll post another round of pics with the closeups.

It looks like the other 1640Ks I've been able to handle. They saved quite a bit by not polishing the receivers. Those usually have somekind of purple-ish blueing, wich i can't determine from your pics. But yes, it seems to be it.

Yep, the receiver is a duller blueing than the barrel for sure....

Her bore was listed as VG by trade-ex. And she cycles and shoots
pretty nice.

So my question is, internally are the 1640k's the same as the non-K 1640's
and the Crown Grade models?
Thanks

What Why Not? said. All 1640 are the same, were they .243 or .358 NM.
If TEC quoted the bore as VG, then, it's at least VG. Absolutely no worries about that.
Have fun and enjoy her... she needs petting, forget the GF and take her to bed with you. She deserves it (not the GF, the rifle).

Rescue in progress, HVA .308

So a year and a half ago a coworker asked me to dispose of an old rifle that had ended up at his house. He dropped it off wrapped up in a garbage bag. Imagine my joy and sadness when I took it out of the bag and discovered a .308 HVA. Forgive me, I can't find the information about it right now, as soon as I do I'll put it on here. It seems to me that when I looked the serial # told me it was manufactured in 1963.

Due to the damage I wasn't able to return it to original condition so I left it .308, put a new barrel on it with a #6 contour, got a fancy stock from Richards Micro-fit and thanks to a GREAT gunsmith here on Vancouver Island I should have it back in a week or two. When I do get it and I get the stock finished I'll be sure to get some more pics up, probably even a few with it's business cloths on at work ;)

I'll keep all you HVA fans posted.

I have changed a couple things on my Mannlicher-stocked Husqvarna since the the previous picture I posted was taken.

DSC00291.JPG

1. Scope mounted in lower rings. Much to my surprise, the objective bell managed to clear the rear sight.

2. The white line spacer on the Pachmayr recoil pad (which was mounted by a previous owner) has been blackened. I don't care for white spacers on stocks.

Nice. ;)I like. Details???

That is one good looking unit.
I was looking to see what you had posted in the rim fire post,
but unless you just recently posted where are those good looking
rim fires of yours?
Cheers.

The rings are low Burris Zee rings on Weaver bases. As for the white spacer, I just used a Sharpie to colour it black.

Post #32 of this thread is what it looked like before.

:)Thanks. I've posted my present;) three Husqvarnas in post #66. I'd like one more, along the lines of what you've posted, but in 7x57mm.

why did they not use a single piece all the way? Was it a strength issue or just a style choice?

I would guess that it's easier to make the stocks that way, given that the stocks are both long and slender. Sako has made Mannlicher stocks the same way, but with a barrel band concealing the joint.

Husky Mfg date/serial #s

Good start for a sticky on Husqvarnas.

I have been into M96's for a while, admiring their built quality. Just discovered Husqvarna 1600 series and was looking for a source of info on them. Very little on the net.

Does anybody know how to determine manufacturing date, using serial number? Thanks.

Home3, Try this website..www.*skydevaaben.*com/*hvasno/*info.*xml I have a rechambered 9.3 x62 mod 46AN, 1936 mfr and like you I had a devil of a time getting any info to ID it...give it a try.
