Husqvarnahammer doubles at TradeEx?

Husqvarna

While I have not purchased from them, I can attest to the fact these hammer guns are alot of fun. They are built hell for stout and swing (handle) very nice.
To my knowledge only Kent has 2.5" shells in country --- I bought a conversion kit for one of my Mec 600's and cut down 2 3/4 shells to size. You might even be able to get primed hulls from Will Bilozir (Bilozir.net)
Cheers/luck, John

Thanks. I was initially thinking of a CZ Hammer Classic, but apparently they haven't been brought into the country yet, and I figured that the Husqvie would make for a nice project too.

I have seen a baikal from tradex before and it was in 2 3/4" with hammers, it was quit the piece. the guy had paid 300 to his door in van. I offered to buy it from him right as i saw it. sadly he declined. they are built good and shoot well. he told me the tradex get a number in quite a bit and they are pretty cheap in price.

try to ask if they have something similar but in 2 3/4" chambering.

I've been through their entire shotgun listings, and no luck on the chambering (and they don't seem to have any Baikal hammerguns, either. I'll keep looking.

I'd be really nervous about that; I wouldn't want to take it out of proof...

I'm no smith but looking at the thickness if mine, I don't see a problem. For the price, buy one and have it accessed -- if the chambers shouldn't be lengthened you will still have a great gun to shoot. I,V seen British guns with less meat around the chambers taken out to 2 3/4.

hammer double

hello, i do own one of these cool little guns, i load black powder 2 1/2" paper hulls and roll crimp them, i also use factory gamebore smokless loads for it, 2 1/2"
gun works great with either, the black is fun for me, smoke everywheres, they are good guns, and believe me , if they say its good or better than good, it is, i paid 195$ for mine, have had it 2 yrs, no issues whatsoever, i even make black powder slug loads, id be happy to share load data with anyone

dont use steel shot in them, stick with lead, bismuth could be used, but its costly

Has anybody here bought one of these? I'm kind of getting the urge to try an old school hammergun without spending an insane amount of money.

Second and related question is the availability of 2.5" 12-ga shotshells in Canada :).

I bought one in 16 gauge. The only shells I've fired through it are the Gamebore 2 1/2" "Traditional Game". It's a great field piece - light enough to carry all day and I especially like the rounded receiver. I wouldn't buy one if you want it for anything besides upland game birds, or if you're not comfortable about the 2 1/2" chambers. But, if it's the uplands you want to hunt and you have a plan for ammo, you can't get better value for your money in a hammergun (with the possible exception of the Baikals mentioned above, since they're 2 3/4" nitro proofed).
