I've got a Wierauch HW97K that I've been mostly punching holes in paper with. I want to make sure I'm maintaining it properly.

The manual that came with it is pretty much useless, it just says "do not overlube".

Is the crossman pellet gun oil ok to use? If so, what should I do beyond just a couple of drops down the "chamber"? How often? If I should be using anything else where do I get it?

Any dissassembly required for heavy maintenance?

Thanks

That is a fine rifle you have there and if I were you I'd only use that oil on the linkage pivot points. There are special chamber lubes but I belive most experts warn against there use do to the damage that can be caused by diseling. Go to w ww.airgunforum.ca you will find loads of info there. Good luck

Don't add lube to the chamber, the Crosman lube is for CO2 guns. Just shoot the rifle, little or no maintenance should be required. The spring will wear out in about 22 years and then you can get it redone with a new spring.

A dab of moly grease to the spring (use sparingly) and for the chamber you need a silicone based lube but only a tiny amount. Most spring guns are over lubricated at the factory and tend to diesel a fair bit initially resulting in inconsistent velocity.
These people carry the stuff you need, but there may be someone closer to you that has it as well...
