I realize this was covered some time ago. But I thought it needed a re-hash.
A hydro cut does not guarantee that you are on crown land. Hydro has many land deals with private land owners to allow passage, or easment.
Some years ago, we were confronted by a very angry land owner who wanted us off his land. We played dumb, because we were! We had no idea that the land was his.
Be careful out there!

Hydro does not own the land under most of the transmission lines in southern Ontario... they only have easment. The landowner owns the property and can do whatever, the only restriction for him is that he cannot build under the wires or on the easment.
In Northern Ontario most Hydro Cuts are easments owned by the crown... dont shoot at the insulators!

Never mind the insulators, the transformers are $15k a pop.

I have had some tense moments with hunters and other uninformed trespassers on my land because of the hydro easment.
There is no way to enter the property without seeing the no tresspassing signs... but every year somebody will try it!
This year it was a woman who parked her mini-van in front of a 36 inch NO TRESSPASSING sign to walk in the hydro cut and look at the deer! The deer she was going to visit was my full size buck deer decoy! It was standing 40 yards in front of the wack shack that I was sitting in with the windows open and in hunter orange!
I asked her what she was doing when she was about 20 yards from me... and this Darwin Award candidate was startled to hear my voice and see me sitting up there... how she could have missed me is beyond me.
She answered that she was going to see the deer and pointed to the decoy.
I admit to tormenting her slightly at this point....... she will not be back;)

Be careful where you hunt fellas... there are crazies out there!:D

Should have let her get right out to him, then politely asked her not to bother the deer.

I think you prolly did more to make her hate hunters in general, now if you had come out of your Whack Shack wearing a leather gimp suit and a red ball gag, I bet no words would have been required.
