Hydro dip Multicam XCR-L

Beautiful rifle! And barricade.

Didn't you scrape the paint inside the scope mount? I would think it decreases the inner diameter.

That's a good question, and this is just my line of thinking...

Wait for the paint to cure. Put scope inside rings with mild lapping compound and lap the scope back into the rings. That should uniformly reduce the paint.

I'm not a gun plumber. But that seems rational to me.

How does that stuff handle heat?

Can't tell until I use and abuse it again.

That said, Krylon held up like a mother ####er after letting it cure on. The only thing that took it off in the first place was degreaser and an abrasive pad.

My opinion is that guns that look like they've never a hard range day for so much as a scratch are lame. Drive it like it was stolen...

Edit to add. Heat never affected the Krylon on this rifle. But you can see on the controls where my hands, and use did

Had my XCR done at LC in YEG last year, same Multicam dip. Turned out phenomenal. Had several other items done at the same time as a test (Oakley Batwolf frames, RAO knife), all turned out great.

Aside from the base coat and dip layer, they do spray a flat clear top coat.

Between the coatings it definitely does change tolerances and there are several areas that need attention in order to refit. But for those who can handle it, once everything is back together, you can see how amazing it looks.

They did a good job on mine and I was adamant about the seams being as innocuous as possible.

All in all I'm impressed and wouldn't hesitate to have more items dipped. Just be prepared for a wait due to back log in jobs.
