I just got in from shooting my Tikka T3 Lite in 30/06. I shot a .530" group at 100 yards, a .470" group at 200 yards, and a 2.290" group at 350 yards. The average MOA is .473. I am shooting 150 gr. Barnes TTSX bullets ahead of H4350 powder. I am very pleased at this level of accuracy from a lightweight hunting rifle shooting a premium hunting bullet. The overall average accuracy for this rifle is around .7" so today was better than average.

I have the same rifle and caliber. It's easy to pack all day hiking and in the two years I've had has helped me take several animals already. Not a ###y caliber but good enough for any big game in North America!

The reason I ask is because I'm about to order a Savage 16 weather warrior in .308 but my dad's adamant on getting a Tikka.

He keeps saying we should get the same rifle and caliber, so we're arguing Tikka vs Savage and .308 vs .30/06

Of course I'll win and he'll just get a Savage 14 American Classic in .308 but I'm curious if the Tikkas are moar accurate.

I showed my dad the quality of my 870 and we both agreed on the spot not to get a Rem700, so that was easy.

I think it would be a toss up. Both will be very accurate. I prefer the way the tikka handles, and the fact that it is lighter. But that is all up to the individual. Also if you go with the Tikka I would get the 30/06. Because all the actions are the same. So why go with a 308 when you can get an /06 in the identical rifle.

So you condemn a whole line of rifles over the quality of a "low end" shotgun?... My 870 is 18 years old and I just replaced the stock to make it a full time turkey only gun.... She is still kicking...

Sounds & looks like you have a fine shooting rifle there!!
It's always gratifying when one finds a rifle that shoots like that.
Before all the Tikka owners start telling me they all shoot like that....they don't!!
I own one in 338 Win Mag. It is a good shooter.
My buddy has one in 308, should be exceptional, but is average. [most days will not average under 1.25 moa]
I have a 700 SSDM in 30-06 that shoots like your Tikka, and with every weight bullet from 150 grain to 200.
Definitely a keeper.
One has to love an accurate rifle.

From my Tikka experience they all do shoot like that! :D
My bud bought a 30-06 T,
I loaded three groups of three rounds with diff powders & levels & 1st trip to the range got two 9/16" & one 3/4" group @ a 100yds with a cheapy 3x9 scope!
I have never seen any other brand shoot as consistantly good as a Tikka.
Thinkin I may just not have played with enough guns, another bud wanted a lightweight 223, since there seemed to be no Tikkas available at the time so I suggested a Sav. Some of the talk on here suggested they were right up there. So far we've fired 20 or so groups & only have a couple groups under an inch . My neighbours Sav 223 Varmint is lucky to get a single 3/4" on a good day! I'm sure some must be better, but that's what I've seen.

Tell him to get the Tikka in 308!
I got $100 says if cartridge quality is the same the Tikka will shoot circles around you all day long ;)
