And Sat Dec 1 I got what I asked for. When it happened all I saw was a glance... heavy horns and a drop tine on the other side.
Once he was down and I approached him did I realize how Non Typical he really was.
Nice mass on the one side and really deformed on the other.
On closer inspection what I
dismissed as "eye goop" turns out to be an antler
growing out of the bucks eye!
This will be a euro mount for sure just to showcase the oddity of the antler growth from out the eye.
It will be interesting when I skin the head out and look inside to see if any other points had grown from this one. Preliminary searching is finding something protruding from deep inside the ear.
Also right behind the drop tine is another point Approx 3/4" dropping towards the skull.
It's no trophy, but it sure has character, and not something you see every other day.
Any thoughts on why this occured ...of course I have my theorys but I would like to hear yours
Cheers
Timo
On this shot you can see the antler growing out of the eye.
However if you wish to see an original (read larger) shot
right click on the pic copy and paste url into browser and replace the "M"
with a "O" and you will get the original 6.1 mp shot.
